Rhyme and Reflection

Spinning life’s chaos into laughs, stories, and verses — because therapy is expensive

Memories of Another Day

Sunday, December 01, 1996 | 1 minute read

Running with the mad crowd in this restless world
I pause and look back, one fine day
Memories cloud me while I gasp for breath
Faces whiz past, so many, old and new
Few that I remember, others that I tried to forget
They laugh and mock at me
As I cry into the shoulders of time
Childhood, adolescence, people, places
Family and friends, each has a story to tell
With the light of memory, I search
The jungles of the past, looking for footprints
Faces, known and unknown, shine now and then
Cuddled in the arms of time, cozy and warm
While I watch alone shivering in the present
Yet the rush is on and I have to go
The future beckons me while the past will not let go
I hug the fading past and run along
Tears tucked away and smile to show
Meeting more faces along the way
Miles and miles to go before I can pause and slow
To think about THE good old days!
