Rhyme and Reflection

Spinning life’s chaos into laughs, stories, and verses — because therapy is expensive

Memory

Thursday, October 23, 2003 | 1 minute read

Behind the veil of cobwebs
her picture adorned the wall
Her smile radiant and unfazed
still set glow the dimly lit hall

Her memory lingered like a fragrance
long after she herself had left
The fifty blissful years that they shared
was something, only time and he could tell

He could see her, feel her
nothing in here did not stop reminding her
Her imprints everywhere,
resonated like thunder and made him shudder

The old lonely man searched the room
hoping to find her somewhere in there
oh! how he hoped for her one little touch
responding with a smile, rushing to his care

With a feeble voice, he prayed for her
sad she broke her promise to stay forever
Yet he knew, the choice was not hers
She would have stayed, if only she could maneuver

Remembering the days together, silently he cried
Tears poured down his sullen eyes
flowing calmly, hugging her footprints
erasing that one last piece of her!!*
