One Way Street

Sunday, September 06, 2009 | 1 minute read

I saw the road ahead clear
Holding my child, I marched with no fear
Behind me was the parent of me dear
Ignorant remained I refusing to look back in the window rear

Totally engrossed in my duties near
I enjoyed the moment, time and year
Feeling the bond of the love adhere
I frolicked in the sun, the rain and the lovely river

Time moved on, not stopping for any prayer
As the past raced to catch the present year
Slowly wisdom rained on me to make it crystal clear
It is just a one way street from past to present forever

No matter how much I cry or offer prayer
I will not hold the present move prior
My ignorance of past present, the next generation adheres
Leaving me to walk the lonely one way street with a tear
