Be a Good Little Monkey

Monday, October 15, 2012 | 1 minute read

He tramped with a plan and glow
pouring water on the floor to watch the flow
Next he decided to wipe it clean
dragging the roll of toilet paper handy with white sheen
impressed with his job, he signaled his mom
aghast she yelled 'now be a good little monkey'

He climbed the kitchen pantry with an aim
searching for the candy all the way up the chain
He kicked the tray and bottle which stood his way
licking the dripping honey while smiling genuine and not fake
all this time she stood watching mesmerized
Now she yelled 'now be a good little monkey'

Sometimes silently he sat in front of the ipad
flipping pages here and there with his touch
pausing to watch his show before he wandered
immersed in this world, nothing bothered him, not even the doorbell
While she searched frantically everywhere
he responded to her call without moving anywhere
on his sight she remarked 'now be a good little monkey'

Night time brought a new flurry of activity
He climbed the staircase without stepping on the steps
and he closed the door with a bang
While pretending to brush his teeth
he excitedly jumped up and down on the bed
creating a ruckus that exhausted all others
getting him to sleep remained a big chore
angry yet amused, she remarked 'good night now be a good little monkey'
