Zombies

Tuesday, July 16, 2013 | 1 minute read

Their eyes focused on the iPhone
hands typing vigorously
oblivious to their surroundings
They sat like zombies in the metro passively

With a white cable dangling from their ears
a weird noise blaring untimely
Their feet tapping to silent rhythm
they were lost in their gung-ho world frequently

In this wonderland, it was raining zombies in the early morning
they came in shapes and all size
Men and women and even toddlers at times
wearing vests and suits and jeans short size

On a regular busy day
one walked straight into a street pole
while another yelled and gestured to someone invisible around
one other sang aloud for no one particular troll
the zombie land had human beings not in control

In their artificial craving for privacy
the zombies enthusiastically dominate the digital river
socializing with other zombies near and far apart
they ignore the world nearby, living vicariously for ever

A satirical view of the year 2020 and beyond
