Spinning life’s chaos into laughs, stories, and verses — because therapy is expensive

Shades of Tree

Wednesday, June 24, 2015 | 1 minute read

This summer day, the long arching wings of the tree
shielding me from the blaze of the furious sun
keeping me cool in the afternoon time
providing the comfort that I dare not shun

The green branches take the heat
ah! I said as I lay under the tree
feeling the ever warm winds brush through my face
Frantically covering my face with a wet towel with grace

an old squirrel running from afar paused to study me
wanting to get under the shade onto the peat
looking undecided pensively peering at me
finally leaping across to the branch to escape the heat

drinking a sip of cold water
I dare not set foot outside my seat
suddenly hearing that loud thunder
I smiled waiting for the downpour to calm the heat
