He welcomed the guests with a forced smile
Ushering them into the palace he built
Hidden in the art and decor for a mile
His ego and pride displayed like a colorful quilt

She hid her pains behind the warm smile
Welcoming guests while conforming to the norm
As routine she fed them sumptuous meals laid in a pile
Only she knew what she lost with time and form

Days when she craved for her freedom
He threw money and gems that she did not care
Pretending to be happy in this life charade
She made others envious of her living faire

It was the facade that he glibly portrayed
The lights were visible from road ahead
Every room was an imprint of his ego
While the believers clumsily walked in applause and red

They were a model family for all to see
With wealth and opulence raining everywhere
Hidden in the dark corners of this luxury
was her tears that no one dared to care or share
