Shadowed love

Sunday, September 16, 2018 | 1 minute read

She followed me
always staying in the vicinity
letting me aware, she was always there
My shadow, my loneliness

I loved her never
yet I kissed her every now whenever
I’m not cheating I said to her
She enjoyed the game knowing she was the secret lover
even when I pretend she did not exist, she knew this love was forever

I called her names
Depression, isolation, anxiety
She said they were all the same
I tried driving her away
I pushed, I ran, I ignored
She knew me better to not get insane
She just waited for me to feel the unrequited pain

She did not care that I loved her not
She did not care who I lived with now
She laughed her wicked smile
knowing fully well that she was the only one
waiting silently in the hallway
That I will finally run into her arms anyway
to make love to her all night and day

Away from the daily hustle
away from the crowds
when the day turns dreary and dark
when people walk away leaving their mark
She was still the faithful one
patiently waiting for me to run into her embrace
