Pillars of My Life

Saturday, August 31, 2019 | 1 minute read

She was the silent one
Bringing me into this world of light
Always standing behind patiently
accepting as I grew from a child to an adult right

She never complained
Always soothing my pain with her calming anodyne
Standing as the epitome of patience
She was the mom that I was blessed pristine

And another was the aunt, inspiring strength
Encouraging me to take the leap
To define my own boundaries
Showing me that I can leap, fail and stand in the heap

She pushed me into the unknown
Forcing me to see the colors with a new beam
Taking me into areas between bright and gray
Allowing me to scale heights that I never would dream

They were the pillars in my life
Made me ready to face glory and pain
crashing suddenly one day within days apart
Leaving me gasping to learn to live again
